Please email, text or leave me a voicemail to book your free 30 minute initial consultation. This will take place either remotely using Zoom or over the telephone.
We will discuss the service that you require and you will have the opportunity to work out whether I might be the right therapist for you.
Individual Therapy
I offer individual therapy to adults aged 18 and over. My style is warm, non-judgemental and hopeful. My core training is in Transactional Analysis, and as a naturally creative therapist I will integrate various techniques to help support you in your journey.
I am also able to offer considered reflections that may help you change the way you understand yourself so that you can choose a different way of being.
We begin by getting to know the difficulties you are facing so that I can tailor a therapeutic approach to suit your needs. This could be that something specific has happened to you; a loss, abuse, an accident, a change in circumstance. Or it could be that you suffer from ongoing difficulties such as anxiety, depression, angry outbursts or low self-esteem. Often these ongoing difficulties stem from our early relationships and experiences.
Through exploring and understanding this we can begin to choose new more authentic ways of being in our lives now. This can alleviate symptoms and allow us to live happier, healthier lives with more fulfilling relationships.
Couples Therapy
Couples therapy allows both people to have their say within a safe, non-judgemental environment. I will support both people fairly to explore thoughts, concerns, wishes, goals and hopes for themselves as individuals and as a couple.
Our initial call with be with both members of the couple present to ensure all parties are happy with the arrangement and get a fair say in choosing a therapist. I then start with one full individual session each in order to understand both individuals experience of the relationship and their needs for couples therapy. After which sessions will be held together.
We will explore the difficulties you are both facing and understand what you both want from the relationship.
The aim is for you to be able to communicate with each other so that you can both be, heard and understood.
I will often set tasks to be explored between sessions. This helps to consolidate the work we have done in the session and will help the relationship to grow and move forward.
Therapy for Parents
Parenting is difficult. Being in a relationship can be difficult too. Trying to do both at the same time can feel overwhelming. I offer a safe place for parents, either individually or together, to to talk openly about these difficulties.
We often carry with us what we have experienced in our own family of origin. This can result in repeating patterns or compensating for what we did not have as children.
Exploring our own childhood in therapy allows us to understand how we were parented and why, grieve any losses, and make conscious choices to respond differently to our own children and partner.
We may also have challenges we did not expect from parenthood if our children have their own struggles or if we did not expect to be doing this alone. Navigating this can be hard and having someone non-judgemental to talk to about this can really help.
I will provide a safe space to explore the highs, lows and challenges of parenting, to give you a better understanding of your responses, and emotions, so that you can connect with your partner, your children and yourself in a way that will enable change and growth as a family.
